Margravial opera house crown loge
Return

The Margravial opera house in Bayreuth has a crown loge (box). This loge was supported by Corinthian entablatures to show that the crown assumed classical authority. In addition, the loge was supported by caryatids. The crown political structure was based upon a society stratified into three estates or classes, and this was reflected in the architecture of the Margravial opera house: three tiers or rows, one for each estate.
